Our Board

Boris Emanuel

Executive Director

Boris grew up in a community living environment on the island of Antigua where he learned at a very young age how to work together in community while fulfilling his own personal potential. Boris has spent the last 35  years developing people, services and programs to meet the needs of individuals and groups who are marginalized as a result of poverty, addictions, social disorders as well as physical, emotional and financial abuse, his extensive experiences from the front line to the boardroom locally and internationally have given him valuable experience collaborating with community based organizations. He has provided leadership and practical skills to churches, government ministries and NGOs to deliver practical assistance, residential services, employment preparedness and counselling. The goal of all these programs were to see each individual create a positive future story. Boris’s experience developing programs such as community gardens, social enterprises, employment/life skills training, healthy living and exercise classes for all ages coupled with his passion for excellence  will be of great benefit to LYNC.  With his strong leadership as executive director we will strive to create an intergenerational community that will become a model for others and a source of pride for Wilmot Township as we lead in a new way of sharing and caring for one another.

Steve Wagler

Chair

Steve has been a lifelong resident of New Hamburg. He is a partner in family owned Josslin Insurance Brokers along with his brother Scott.  Steve is passionate about his hometown and has been involved in leadership roles for the New Hamburg Board of Trade and many other provincial and local organizations. Steve brings 26 years of experience as a landlord in New Hamburg and has worked with his spouse Michelle to create a culture of community within their rental units.

Glen Good

Secretary

Glen Good has spent most of his life around building construction and has a passion for old historic architecture. His background in building design and construction; applying, enforcing and teaching building and fire codes as a building official, construction manager and college professor all support his belief that shelter is a right for every person. Glen has spent time volunteering on local and international house building project teams and continues to be motivated to work along side those who are in need of a home. While Glen agrees that good building design is important, it is the people that live and work within a building that really matter. Glen is very excited to see attainable housing being offered to people who desire to live and work in rural communities. After all, isn’t it time we started sharing our backyard?

Paul Ming

Treasurer

Paul’s story is not an easy one to hear, but is familiar to so many. Paul shares his personal story in order to bring hope to those who need it. Paul was a ward of the Children’s Aid by age 3 and homeless by age 15.  Paul knows the impact even one person can have on a life when they show compassion and kindness. At his lowest point Paul needed someone who saw him as a person and gave him hope and a dream for the future. Although Paul’s life has taken many turns, he started a successful transportation and warehouse company which he sold after 25 years.  Paul brings empathy from his lived experience, his business expertise and plenty of energy to LYNC. He believes that LYNC is more than affordable housing. It’s about connection. Connecting people with housing, job opportunities and most importantly, each other thus creating a hopeful and positive world.
