New Fundraiser: The Story of a Mill

The housing crisis has not gone away—and neither have we. Because housing matters. Because people matter. And because the future of our community depends on it.

At LYNC, we’ve faced every challenge that comes with building something bold and new: layers of regulations, drawn-out approval processes, and the uphill climb of being the “new kid on the block.” But through it all, one thing has kept us moving forward: you. Your belief in our mission. Your unwavering support. Your commitment to making equitable housing a reality.

Today marks the beginning of our most ambitious journey yet—a $5 million fundraising campaign: The Story of a Mill: From the Founding of a Community to Hope for the Future.

We’re thrilled to share that this campaign is launching with a powerful show of community spirit. Josslin Insurance has stepped forward with a remarkable gift, donating $1,000 for every year they’ve been in business—a total of $145,000—in celebration of their 145th anniversary serving New Hamburg.

But their generosity doesn’t stop there. To honour 50 years of leadership by the Wagler family, Josslin is challenging other local businesses to join them in building a legacy of hope. They’ve pledged to match all donations made before September 30, 2025, up to an additional $50,000—that’s $1,000 for each of the 50 years their family has guided the company.

We are closer than ever to breaking ground. Our application to CMHC is in its final review. Site plan approval is secured. Environmental and engineering assessments are complete. Final drawings are in hand, and a dedicated construction team is ready. All we need now—is you. Together, let’s turn the story of our past into a promise for the future.

Your donations will help bridge the gap while we await funding finalization and will go directly toward removing large metal bins from inside the Mill, reducing the remaining mortgage, preparing and cleaning soil from the filled-in mill race, covering critical operating costs (insurance, utilities, interest, professional fees), and pre-construction site preparation.

But this isn’t just a campaign about raising money. It’s a celebration of our shared history and a collective vision for the future. This summer, join us on a journey through the Mill’s remarkable past—a story of how it shaped New Hamburg and the lives within it. With the help of local historians, we’ll bring these untold stories to life through newsletters, social media, and community events.

Together, let’s build something extraordinary—not just affordable housing, but a legacy of hope, belonging, and opportunity.
