Featured Article: The Illusion of a Happy Duck

Why is nothing happening at the Mill? Is the project stalled? We’re hearing that question a lot. I like to think of us like happy ducks. While everything at the Mill Block looks peaceful, quiet and barely moving (like a duck floating); underneath we are paddling
madly.

In memory of a community champion, Ross Steckley

LYNC mourns the loss of a community champion. Ross was a mentor, supporter and friend to LYNC and many of our board members.
He dabbled in different occupations but found his calling when he worked with Metropolitan Housing in eastern North Carolina, where he focused on facilitating housing for low-income communities, teaching small business classes, and advocating for equal opportunities in the community. He kept that passion alive by supporting LYNC as a sounding board for ideas and a champion of affordable housing. He will be missed by many.

Ross Malcolm Steckley passed away while on a road trip in North Carolina on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the age of 67.
